Irina

Hello! My name is Irina. I was born in Constanta, Romania, raised in London for almost ten years and at the moment I live in Bucharest. I’m a student and for the future, besides modeling, I aspire to follow a law school and become a lawyer. Modeling has always been my passion, and it’s great being part of the MUR family where I can develop this job.

I’d decided to become a model four years ago, because of my enormous passion and love for this job. I loved everything about this industry and honestly, I really enjoyed the idea of being in the spotlight and being surrounded by stylists, designers, editors and so on. After a long research, I was the the one who called the agency, and eventually, I was asked to come to a casting. I still remember my first time at the agency… I was so nervous! I was 11 and a half when I was signed. Officially I’m the youngest new face signed in the history of MUR models. Basically I grew up while becoming a professional model.

My first test shooting was amazing, although, I have to admit, I was pretty anxious. Could you blame me? It was a new environment for me and I didn’t know what to expect. I remember meeting Mircea Netea, the photographer who was extremely kind and helpful. He advised me how to pose and he explained many things to me about the industry itself. He made me feel very comfortable and welcome, therefore it was pretty easy and enjoyable to work with him.

There are many aspects that I love about modeling. First of all, I would say that modeling disciplined me a lot and it definitely made me more courageous. It also matured me and helped me get out of my comfort zone. Modeling also offers me the opportunity to interact and socialize with new people which is something I appreciate and love.

The thing I like the most about working with photographers is the fact that they always have a special way of communicating, which makes modeling much more fun and easier. When you work with a good and experienced photographer, communication is the key. Before any shooting, I like to sit in front of the mirror and exercise my posing as if I were on set. It really helps me improve and get ready.

Catwalk has always been a side of modeling which I’ve sympathized. I would say that it’s my favorite part of modeling because I find it the most challenging, and I’m always in for a challenge. I’ve worked for many well-known Romanian designers, as well as many other designers from all around the world. Whenever I walk down the runway, I always tell myself to keep a very strong eye contact with the camera, in order to look more confident and professional. When on the runway, there are no second takes, no alternative poses, therefore it motivates me to model to the best of my ability and walk like I own the runway! If we’re talking about shootings, it’s also something I love to do because I get to be creative and show off my posing skills. 😊

I look up to many models, but my favorites are definitely Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Irina Shayk and Gisele Bundchen. I find them absolutely fascinating and they’ve definitely exceeded in their modeling careers.

To be honest, I wouldn’t be able to define my style in just one way because I usually pick my outfits according to my mood. Sometimes I like to dress more elegant and refined, other times I prefer being more casual and wear a tracksuit. I like to consider myself a fashionista because I’ve always liked to look at magazines and watch every new runway show.

I feel like social media has become a very important, almost essential part of our lives and has managed to have a huge impact on us. I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a disadvantage, although, from my point of view, it keeps us away from physical interaction, which would benefit us more. In terms of modeling, I think social media plays a huge role in promoting and showing it off, which is great!

If I could have a super power, I would like to be able to read people’s minds and always know what they’re thinking! My favorite superhero would definitely be Wonder Woman.
